Experimental Study on the Correlation between Lung and Large Intestine Function in Rats
Kim Eun-Ha

Abstract
In order to study for the Correlation between Lung and Large Intestine Function in Rats: The experimental rats were divided into four group. The Pulmonary disfunction group induced by xylene.(Ex-¥°), the Cold group induced by exposure -20¡É temperature(Ex-¥²), and the Colon obstruction group induced by ligature of colon(Ex-¥³), Ex-¥° and Ex-¥± belong to the disfunction of lung, Ex-¥² and Ex-¥³ belong to the disfunction of large intestine.
The Correlation between Lung and Large Intestine was investigated as follows: In relation to the function to lung, the Changes of artrial PCO©ü PO©ü blood pH, O©ü saturation, bicarbonate, and base excess Levels were investigated. In relation the function of large intestine, the changes of the transit time, water and lipid content in feces were investigated. In relation to the metabolism of body fluid, the changes of plasma prostaglandin-E©ü, serum osmolality, serum sodium, chloride and potassium ion levels were investigated.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. Ex-¥° group : the atrial PCO©ü, bicarbonate and transit time of feces were significantly increased, the atrial PO©ü, blood pH, O©ü saturation, Prostaglandin-E©ü, serum sodium and chloride ion levels were significantly decreased as compared with normal group.
2. Ex-¥± group : the atrial PO©ü was significantly decreased as compared with normal group.
3. Ex-¥² group : the atrial PO©ü, blood pH, O©ü saturation, base excess, transit time of feces, Prostaglandin-E©ü, serum sodium and chloride ion levels were significantly decreased, and the lipid content in feces and serum osmolality were significantly increased as compared with normal group.
4. Ex-¥³ group : the atrial PO©ü, blood pH, O©ü saturation, base excess and serum sodium ion levels were significantly decreased as compared with normal group.
As results, it is concluded that Ex-¥° group revealed not only the disfunction of lung but also the metabolic disorder to the fluid, and Ex-¥² group revealed the metabolic disorder of the body fluid and the disfunction of lung as well as the disfunction of large intestine.
And it is suggested that the correlation between lung and large intestine was derived from the physiologic metabolism of the body fluid and the electrolytes of the body.
